NEW CHILDREN’S BOOK TO BENEFIT
AIDAN’S AVENGERS
This is a delightful story for young children, with fun characters and special lessons, but it’s the story behind the story that makes this book even more special and meaningful.
We are thrilled to announce that 100% of the first 1,000 book sales will benefit Aidan’s Avengers!
This is all due to a generous donation which covers the publishing and printing of the first edition. We are humbled by this generosity.
The Story Behind the Story...
Caitlin Elizabeth Dunion
This book was created based on a story Caitlin's grandmother told her dad as a child and then related to Caitlin and her brothers, Ryan and Aidan.
At only ten years old, Caitlin works to bring more awareness to childhood cancer in memory of her little brother Aidan, who passed away when he was only 4 years old from a rare brain tumor called DIPG.
Caitlin is always thinking of ways to raise money for research. She has organized and participated in bracelet sales at her school, bake sales, and more, always with the same mission – for Childhood Cancer Awareness!
Caitlin wanted to publish this book as part of fundraising and awareness efforts for Childhood Cancer. Through support from her grandparents and painter/illustrator Aunt Jenny, Caitlin’s wish to make a difference in the quest for finding a cure for DIPG continues on.
She hopes to create more books about Katie in the future.
Jennifer Gilroy Schmauk
Caitlin’s Aunt Jenny is the painter and illustrator of Katie and the Bumblebee. The two worked together on this book, incorporating different pieces of Caitlin and her family into the artwork.
This loving mother of two, has had a passion and focus for painting and illustration for the past 20+ years.
For Katie and the Bumblebee, Jennifer combines her painting style with illustration to create bright colored and playful scenes and characters. For the backgrounds, she uses palette knives and a multitude of sculpting tools to layer and carve the paint.
ATTN: CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS
Caitlin requested the illustrator, Aunt Jenny, to incorporate something GOLD throughout the book. The color gold represents the fight to find a cure for childhood cancer.
You will notice something special throughout the book representing Katie's awareness for Childhood Cancer. See if you can find what it is. Can you count how many times you see the color GOLD?
This children's book, with loving lessons and awareness, is great for gifts, schools, libraries, hospitals, childhood cancer foundations and much more.
